Sumay's Speech to the Flutteristas

Sumay's introductory remarks at the Flutterista meeting on June 10, 2021.

Hello Flutteristas!


My name is Sumay McPhail and I am the CEO and Co-Founder of WEquil.School. Thanks to your generosity I am now also the world's youngest Flutterista...although my little sister Aila has plans to steal my new title.


Thank you for inviting me to your community. I am grateful to have already made some wonderful new friends and look forward to meeting all of you individually so please feel free to reach out to me at your convenience if we have a shared interest.


There is so much that I want to share, but today I only want to tell you about what we are doing to grow #FlutterKids at WEquil.School. You may have heard about me from my YouTube channel thanks to Stephanie Patterson who helped WEquil.School reach 100 subscribers yesterday!


What you may not know is that we now have a global team of five paid Flutter developers along with a group of #FlutterKids at WEquil.School helping to scale our virtual learning platform using a Flutter based WebApp. You can watch our progress grow in real time by visiting WEquil.App. Currently, all we have is a very simple Flutter Virtual Classroom so wannabe #FlutterKids anywhere in the world can start to build their own apps to scale their imaginations. You can add resources and project ideas right now in this WebApp. This is one of a thousand ways we are automating our school to make project based + self-direction easy for kids everywhere in a scalable way that improves through use over time.


By request from dozens of parents applying to WEquil.School this week I will also be launching my own Flutter Master Class. The purpose of this would be to help get new FlutterKids off the ground. Applying the WEquil.School approach ... which is project based and self-directed ... is easy using our virtual classrooms for topics like LifeSchool ... but harder for App Building. That's why I want to give parents the option to enroll their kids in a paid Flutter "Master Class" designed to quickly get members to a point where they can quickly graduate to our free collaborative platform.


The mission of WEquil.School is to help kids learn to leverage their unique strengths and interests to add value to the world. Since the Flutteristas found my YouTube channel a month ago our application rate went from about 1 a day to 100 yesterday. We are growing fast, but the only way we can achieve our mission is if we can scale our solution, and to do that we are going to use a Flutter WebApp built on Google Cloud.

We want to hire Flutteristas! Please email us if you have an interest in teaching our FlutterKids via a MasterClass over Zoom. I am very focused on guiding our WebApp team so have little time to provide. We want to start in two weeks using a format very similar to how our Composition Demo Day guest speaker James Fernando helped students with their music (watch below). We have families around the world ready to sign up and pay for this so those looking for a part time job growing your knowledge of Flutter by teaching our students are welcome to apply!
