Publishing Projects

Updated: Jul 16

Hello, WEquil.School members! This article explains how you can publish projects. Once you learn you can start sharing all your creations with the school and sign up to join our Demo Days!

Step 1 - Create a Wix Account

Our website is run by WIX which allows contributors to publish articles as a "Blog Writer". When you join WEquil.School you should get an email inviting you to collaborate in Wix (see below). If you have not received this email, please contact anyone on our Leadership team via our private Slack group.

Within the email you will see an "Accept Now" button. Click it and it will direct you to another page. Click "Accept".

Once you have done that, either sign up or sign in if you already have an account. Keep in mind if the account you have signed in from is using a different email, you will not be able to edit the website.

Step 2 - Sign in to your Wix Account

By accepting the invitation, Wix may have already made you an account, in which case click the "Continue with Google" button and sign in with the gmail account the invitation was sent to.

Once you have signed in you should see a page like this:

Step 3 - Create a project

Every project at WEquil.School is published as a "Blog Post" ... at least until we complete our new WebApp at WEquil.App. To add a blog post, click the "Create New Post" button. Afterwards it will take you to a page that looks like this where you can write your post.

After writing your post, go to the settings button at the left of your screen where you can add an image to go along with your post. Under setting and below "Publish date" you will see a box called "Author". New authors should add their name and a picture of themselves. If the author is under 13 they should use only their first name and last initial ... and an avatar instead of their actual picture.

Step 4 - Publish your project

And the very last thing you should do before publishing is going to the category button at the left and clicking the categories that are related to your post. We have three types of categories:

  1. Level

  2. Topic

  3. Page

There are five levels at WEquil.School including Core, Lifeschool, Curiosity, Startups, and Graduation. See these virtual classrooms to learn more and choose the appropriate level for your project.

We have many topics and continue to expand these when we get enough projects. For example, we have STEM, Game Creation, Psychology...etc. Choose the appropriate topic and feel free to choose more than one.

Pages are personal blog spaces for members that have published at least five projects. This is a perk we give to members that demonstrate more interest in WEquil.School. Once you have published five projects and presented them on Demo Days please reach out to our leadership team and claim your blog space.

Then, click the "Publish" button and you should be all set!

Step 5 - Synthesize

WEquil.School students don't receive grades. They learn through the Synthesized learning process (SLP). Publishing a project is the first step in the SLP. Click the picture below to discover what comes next.

Thank you for being part of our community! Please tell us how we can make this document more useful to other families!
