Video Project Template

Updated: Jul 26, 2021

Hello WEquil School Members!

Many of you have project ideas, but either don’t know how to get started, or how to share your projects once it is completed. Pretty much all of the WEquil School projects either fit into one of two categories, articles or videos. If you have an article that you would like to post on to WEquil School you can check out my post on Publishing Article Projects. In this guide I’ll be showing you how you can create and publish video projects at WEquil School.

Structuring Your Project

For many article projects students use the Five Paragraph Framework. You can apply this same structure to your video projects, but instead of writing your intro, body paragraphs and conclusion you would say it.

Filming

To film video projects you don’t need to get any fancy camera equipment, you can just start off using a phone. After you film all the clips that you need you can AirDrop or Email the files to your computer like this:

Once you click the button you can either AirDrop or Email yourself the videos to get them onto your computer.

Editing Your Video

There are many different video editors you can use, but the one that we would recommend is iMovie which comes already downloaded for most Mac products. Once you have the files downloaded, drop them into iMovie by clicking this button:

Select the files you want to edit and then open them. Here is a tutorial you can use to learn how to use iMovie:

Uploading Your Video

After you’ve finished editing your video, you can download it as one file by clicking the button at the top right corner and clicking “Export File”

After that you can choose the quality of your exported video and where you want to save it on your computer.

Getting Your Project Published on YouTube

Once you have the completed video, reach out to either Joseph or Sumay on Slack or email them the file at joe@wequil.com so they can publish it on YouTube. Make sure to include:

  1. Title of Video

  2. Video File

  3. Thumbnail Photo

  4. Description

If you aren’t comfortable with your project being put on YouTube but would like to publish it under your profile on the WEquil.School website, you can publish your video in a blog post on wix.

Once you have published your project you can socialize it in the WEquil School Slack Group. And you can present your video in either the private or public Demo Day. Thank you for being part of our community! Please tell us how we can make this document more useful to other families!

Sincerely,

WEquil.School Leadership Team
